FLAVA AND LIL FLAVAS RETAIN TITLES WHILE T CREW WINS VARSITY |
|
July 9 Adelaide City was rocking as the BATTLEGROUNDS 2012 came into town with a bang. The official launch took place at Norwood Concert Hall. BATTLEGROUNDS Adelaide is the first ever qualifier of the year, the new event that took over Groove as the exclusive qualification event to World Supremacy Battlegrounds. Last Saturday the show was jam-packed. The SOLD OUT sign was out, and the vibe was electric. Three group divisions, three Dance@Live Battle divisions and the URBANSTAR talent quest were on show in a non-stop five hour program. Defending champions FLAVA (Open Division) and LIL FLAVAS (Junior Division) came out with guns blazin' as they dominated their respective division. T CREW from the ACPA family grabbed the Varsity title from FLAVALICIOUS, who finished a close second. International judges Samantha Cahill (ReQuest Crew), Orwaye De Leon (Philippine Allstars) and Tsuyoshi Endo (Japan) enjoyed every performance. In the Dance@Live battle events, three divisions were launched. It was the first time Dance@Live was held in Adelaide, and the battle contestants were pumped to showcase their individual talents. Each battle division started with a cipher and gave each contestant two rounds to impress the judges. It was knock-out eliminations, as the top four dancers then battled it out against each other. The winning battle contestants include Coby (KIDS), Desh (FREESTYLE Open) and Peter Pan (BBOY). The URBANSTAR talent quest attracted quite a few young acts the event. However, Arista Kontos stood out from the field with her own rendition of an Alicia Keys' hit "Fallin", and she was crowned the new URBANSTAR Adelaide champion. |
