ADELAIDE LIGHTS UP THE GROOVE STAGE |
August 31 Adelaide City was buzzing last Saturday. The word was out: the Maestro, Melbourne-based host Oliver Santeco aka MC OLIBEAR was coming down to the City of Churches to host GROOVE. Sure enough, the lyrically-gifted singer/comedian made his way to Adelaide along with a Melbourne production crew that was eager to see what Adelaide had to offer now. They had no idea what was in store for them. This time last year, Adelaide failed to represent in their own city. It was a disappointing effort, but the Groove organizers believed in the talent that was building up in South Australia and decided to carry on with the competition. Fast forward to 2010, and the annual dance hub Scott Theatre was sold out, jam-packed and filled to the rafters with over 800 people. It was indeed a major turnaround, and MC Olibear could not help but hype the adoring crowd. He was more stunned once the dance groups hit centre stage. "It was sold out. We had to turn away hundreds of people. There was simply no room for the dancers in the audience so we actually had to keep them backstage with me and we watched thru the live feed. The crews stepped up this year, it's really amazing to see the improvement", said the excited MC. It was open crew ADM that eventually came out on top ahead of defending champions and favourites FLAVA. Some of the many highlights included the freestyle battles at the end. Tha Deadly Boyz, an Aboriginal Australian rap duo rocked the mic. The parents in the audience loved the show from start to finish. Groove Adelaide's panel of judges included mainstay Anne Murray, new judge Sarah Kuss and Lisa D'Andrea of 92.7 Fresh FM. After the Groove competition, MC Olibear, along with his new fans and production crew headed off to the Lavish Club Lounge to kick back and relax after an awesome night to remember. |

Aug 24 2010 A breath of fresh air is sweeping across Asia, with news of a new world event set to be staged right in the heart of the South East Asian region next year. The WORLD ELITE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (ELITE), will take place in MANILA CITY, PHILIPPINES in April 2011. The passion and fire of Filipinos will be ignited as they host the inaugural ELITE event in their own backyard, also home to the world-beating and beloved hip hop crew Philippine Allstars. There has been a good amount of interest from Europe, the Americas and Africa. ELITE should also attract plenty of interest from neighouring countries, including China, Japan and Korea. Two major categories currently in place - the ADULT OPEN Division and the VARSITY Division. Another major attraction would be the WHEEL OF FORTUNE, pitting each country against one another. Asia Pacific Director Peeya delos Reyes made the announcement last Saturday at the GROOVE Philippines championship. Currently in discussions with major television and media networks, she is expecting to invite newly-elected Philippine President Noynoy Aquino to grace the opening ceremony next year.
