Groove Rules

The Rules guiding the Groove events
The Groove event is a dance competition with various stages involved from the regional level to the international level. Like all competitions, it is governed by rules which ensure there is an order in the organisation of the events and give participants a clear view of the dos and don’ts as well as what they should expect from the competition. Rules are important because, without them, we have a disorder. However, Groove is not just a competition; it is an experience that everyone who participates in it is supposed to enjoy. While the struggle to be the winner is a core element of every competition, there are things that are more important than winning. One such is the spirit of the competition. Groove encourages fair competition because of all the things that one could learn through it and how it can help to build. Winning must never be the only reason for competition.
There is a code of conducts guiding each competition, and they include:
- Respect the worth and dignity of all members no matter their cultural origin or ability
- Have fun and enjoy yourself
- Be humble in victory and graceful in defeat. There is no reason to blame anyone for your loss when you should just focus on self-improvement.
- Respect and co-operate with officials because you can't have a competition without them.
- Don't be a one-man show in a team competition; work for yourself and the team.
- Don't criticise your team members or the competitor.
- The purpose of the competition is to have fun, show sportsmanship by applauding the competition too.
